    About the Facilitator:

David Parkin is an author, theatre maker, musician and installation artist. His work is fiercely autobiographical or silly and speculative, but always thoughtful, moving and funny - from his children’s book and musical “The Nose That Nobody Picked” to his ‘clinical depression concept album show’ “Good Friday”.

In 2015 Dave had a bipolar manic episode and was sectioned for four months. ‘David Parkin’s Delusions of Grandeur’ is an installation examining his experience from a cacophony of mediums - in residence at Bethlam Museum of the Mind from April 22nd to July 22nd 2022.

David will present this new work at WORD! on June 10th, alongside a ensemble response from members of the 'Wednesday WORD!s' collective. He will read from his ‘Delusions’ book about surreal, sad and strangely sparkly moments in the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, and particularly invite work engaging with mental health and the mind via the open mic.
